The 2011 Chi Town Jazz Festival will swing into high gear from Tuesday, March 22 through March 26. It showcases an array of outstanding jazz artists in some of Chicago’s finest jazz venues. The festival began last year and involves the collective effort of the jazz community to support hunger relief in Chicago. Funds raised directly benefit the Greater Chicago Food Depository and Catholic Charities who work together for hunger relief.

I photographed the festival last year. It was outstanding in itself and doubly so because it did good in our community. This year the venues participating include Martyrs, The Hideout, Andy’s Jazz Club, The Green Mill, Symphony Center, and Fitzgeralds. If you can make it out for any night you won’t be disappointed.
