Evening Rush Hour Begins

color photo altered to look like a painting, looking down at office buildings and rush hour traffic in Chicago.

Some captures stick in my mind more than others – like this one. Time of capture, 4:30PM. Place, 67th floor of Willis Tower in the heart of downtown Chicago. I was there to document a client’s event. Floor to ceiling windows all around. The city’s afternoon light was changing to dusk. Office lights brightened. Looking down I saw workers begin to travel back to their homes using taxis, buses, cars, and walking to nearby commuter train stations. Evening rush hour had begun. Afterwards, as I processed this image I felt that it required more than an exact representation of the time. That’s when I began experimenting with filters and adjustments to stimulate ideas. Here is my latest result. More like a painting. Looks good small or extremely enlarged. My satisfying exercise of discovery – for now. For sale in “Prints For Sale” above.
