Veteran waits turn to praise “Operation Hero Miles,” which uses donated frequent flyer miles for service members and their families.

Veteran Jim Hogan waits to tell how the Fisher House Foundation, through “Operation Hero Miles,” helps people donate frequent flyer miles to provide free round-trip airline tickets to military families flying overseas to visit a service member receiving medical treatment. The program enables wounded or ill service members with approved leave to fly home at no cost. To date, “Operation Hero Miles” has issued more than 34,000 donated tickets, saving service members and their families nearly $54 million. The foundation also provides a “home away from home” for military families to be close to a loved one during hospitalization for an illness, disease or injury. To donate airline miles, visit
